We got up early this day because we were had reservations on the Wenonah at 3:00 PM. The whole hike was in the trees and most of it on the Greenstone trail. This was familiar trail for Mike and I and it was mostly all down hill. We made it to Windigo well before lunch and had plenty of time for a show and to share yarns with the other backpackers that were going to ride back to the mainland with us. We also listened to the Ranger Valerie's story of moose and wolves on Isle Royale and lo and behold we saw a moose swimming in Washington Bay as we left the dock.

Today Lake Superior was flat and this made for a comfortable boat ride. The Johnsons do a nice job running this charter service. They showed some of the fisheries. both at Isle Royale and along the mainland. A special treat for them was a group of people that showed up at the Grand Portage dock with decorated sacks over their heads. Mrs. Johnson was particularly taken aback when she realized that these crazy people were her friends and relatives.

We made it down to Larsen's Lakeview Cabins in Grand Marais, and had an outstanding burger, onion rings, fries, and beer at My Sister's Place. A great end for a great trip. Saturday was a nice 12-hour drive back to Omaha.

Lake Superior was calm and the clouds provided a beautiful view for our return trip
